Cabbage Dhal

This is a simple dish which everybody love to have very often.Very easy to cook.
Some of my friends are fond of this dhal.Goes good wid hot rice and dosa or chapati.

Ingredients :

1 cup split moong dhal
1 cup of cabbage chopped into chunks
Turmeric a pinch
Onion small size 1 finely chopped
Garlic pods 3
Red chilly powder 1 tsp
Tomato 2 finely chopped
Salt for taste
Cilantro for garnishing

For Seasoning:

Oil 4-5 tsp
Mustard
Jeera half tsp
Asafoetida a pinch
Green chillies 4/or dry red chillies
Onion small size chopped finely
Curry leaves.

Method for preparation:

Put dhal,cabbage, tomato, turmeric, garlic pods, onion and red chilly powder and add abt 3 cups of water in a cooker and pressure cook it. (3 whistle is enough)
After the release of pressure nicely smash the dhal wid wooden masher.

Now keep a pan to heat and add oil when oil is hot, add mustard, jeera when it splitters add greenchillies (chopped) and onion (chopped)curry leaves and asafoetida and fry it and add it to cooked dhal and put salt and garnish wid cilantro.

I am back! Here is a recipe for famous paya prepared from goat trotters. In karnataka trotters is called as nalli. Its good to health.
I learned this from my friend.It is quite famous in tamilnadu. Goes well wid idiyappam,idly,dosa,or parota.And even u can have it like soup also.Try it friends.

Ingredients:

Goat trotters (goat legs/kuri kalu/aatukal) 1 lb
onion 1 big size (finely chopped)
Tomato 1 big size (finely chopped)
Green chillies 4(slit into two)
Red chilly powder 1 tsp
Coriander powder 1 tsp
Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
Bay leaf 2
cinnamon stick 1
cloves 4
Salt for taste
oil 5 tsp
cilantro for garnishing.
coconut (optional)


Method to Cook:

Clean the goat trotters with water and turmeric powder.

Heat cooker and add oil, then add bay leaf, cinnamon,cloves and add onion fry it, then add ginger garlic paste and fry , next add tomato and green chillies fry nicely.Now add coriander and chilly powder and add cleaned paya/trotters and pour abt 6 cups of water and put salt how much u require and close the lid of cooker and let 3 whistle come.After u release the pressure of cooker then check, if u think it is more watery or u need some thick curry u can grind coconut and add it and make it to boil for few min. Garnish it wid cilantro before serving.Serve hot.

Spicy Beetroot

Bored of having some ordinary stuff with chapati,poori or rice ????


Here i have come wid a healthy recipe, prepared from beetroot.

Beetroots are excellent source of folic acid.

This can be prepared within few min and goes good with, rice,chapati n poori.

Try this n let me know, how it turned up!


Ingredients:

1 big beetroot(wash,peel and grate)
1 onion(chopped)
1 tomato(chopped)
2-3 green chillies(slit it into two)
2 pods of garlic(chopped)
curry leaves
1/4 tsp of red chilli powder
1/4 tsp of coriander powder
4-5 tsp of oil
Salt for taste

Method to prepare:

Heat oil in a pan, add onion curry leaves n green chillies, fry and add beetroot and garlic, salt and close the lid.After 2 minutes stir it and add tomato and close the lid, let it cook for few more minutes, then mix it well, at last add the chilli n coriander powder and mix well and remove from heat.

Fenugreek n egg

Hello Friends,

Sorry i was quite busy, so i could not update the blog. Hope hereafter i will make some time to blog :)

Here this time i have come wid a healthy recipe.

Fenugreek is called as Methi,Menthe,Venthayam,Menthulu in different languages.

Fenugreek is used both as leaves and as a seed.It is mainly used as digestive aid.

I love its characteristic smell very much.There are lots of variety recipes to cook from fenugreek.Many use these leaves in non-veg items.Seeds are also used in different kind of recipes, especially in making pickles.

This Fenugreek n egg recipe is easy to make and goes good wid poori and chapati.Sometimes i have tried it wid rasam/sambhar and hot rice.I simply love it.

Ingredients:

A bunch of fenugreek leaves(cleaned and chopped)
1 Potato(peeled and chopped finely)
1 Onion (chopped)
3-4 green chillies
2 Eggs
3-4 tsp Oil
Salt for taste.

Method for preparation:

Heat oil in a frying pan and add onion and fry, then add green chillies,potato and fry for a while.Add salt and fenugreek leaves cook closed for a while, no need of adding water.Now add eggs into it and scramble it .Take it off from heat and serve.

Egg Masala

Dear friends, after a long time today i am adding a new post. I know everybody likes to try egg in different way and have it daily :) This egg masala is quick dish to prepare, looks great n tasty!
Try this and enjoy.


Ingredients:

4 Hard boiled eggs
1 tsp of ginger garlic paste
1 tsp red chilly powder
a pinch of turmeric
salt for taste

For seasoning:

3 tsp of cooking oil
curry leaves
Mustard half tsp

Method to prepare:

First in a small serving bowl, add ginger garlic paste, chilly powder salt and turmeric .Add half cup of water and mix it well.(Let it be watery)

Next heat oil in a frying pan and add mustard, when it pops, add curry leaves and pour the mixture of masala and keep on fry for few min, and add eggs and keep on fry till the masala thickens and covers the eggs as shown in pic. Put off the heat and serve hot.

Rawa Ladoo

For christmas i prepared few types of sweets and shared it wid my dearest friends, each n every body said that it was very tasty ones :) Many said rawa ladoo was very nice.So i like to post rawa ladoo recipe here today.This is very easy method to prepare and u can store them for more than 15 days.Try them and enjoy :)


Ingredients:

2 cup rawa(sooji)
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
half cup ghee
1tsp cashewnuts
1tsp raisins
2 cardamom.

Method of preparation:

Heat ghee in a pan and fry cashew n raisins and take them and keep aside, in the same pan fry rawa for a while.
Now grind the rawa , sugar and cardamom in a mixer.
Take a bowl and put the ground mixture of rawa and add fried raisins and cashew, mix well and adding warm milk make small lemon sized balls from rawa.
Cool and store them in a air tight container.

Rawa Kodbale

My Favorate snacks are Chakkali(muruku) and Kodbale( i don't know what do people call this in any other languages :) )This is a very easy to prepare snack and can store for more days. Best for all seasons.(if u r making this item for first time, try to make in less quantity)

Ingredients:

500 gm Fine Sooji( Obbattu rawa)
Half Cup Dalda
8-10 Green Chillies
1 tsp Jeera (Cumin)
small bunch of cilantro(coriander) and few stems of curry leaves
Half cup of Grated coconut(raw)
a pinch of baking powder
Salt for taste
Oil for frying.

Method for preparation:

Grind Green Chillies, Cilantro(corianderleaves)jeera and coconut without adding water.
Heat Dalda.
Take rawa in a bigger bowl and add dalda to rawa, add ground paste to rawa, add salt and mix well, add little water and make into soft dough.
Now taking small ball of dough knead it like rope, don't make it too thin,the proper shape you should make is like bangle!

Heat oil in a pan and fry these on medium flame till it turns into light brown color.
keep it out to cool for few min and store them in airtight container.
